JK Open day

With Kim on hike training, Lily and I had some time to kill and with Just Kampers having another open day we set off in the Beetle. Sunshining and little traffic meant we were soon parking up next to the camping field.

After a snack we headed off to see the other cars and campers parked up.

Heading over to the trade area we had a quick look round, disappointingly the usual "damaged stock sale" was no where to be seen. In previous years we have picked up some useful bargains here. Grabbing a burger we sat down.

After a ride on the teacups we had a walk round the camp site. Some people were making a weekend of it. I'm not sure I could find enough to amuse Lily for three days!

Heading around to the workshop Lily took charge of the camera for a bit.

After seeing everything twice we decided to head home. Its nice for a local supplier to throw its doors open, but its changed a lot since the first event with a free BBQ and sale bargains. Times change I guess.

Festive cheer at JK

Following the success of the last couple of open days, VW parts suppler Just Kampers, decided to throw open the doors once more for some Christmas fun. Blue skies and sunshine disguised the fact it well below zero as I chipped ice of the Camper. We met up in the carpark of the shop with only a handful of other people there. Kim and Lily took Passat power as they were going on to the Panto later and our friend Steve came in his new T4.

The company had set up a few of the staff vehicles out front and some stalls selling gifts and goodies as well as the seconds shelf in the warehouse and the counter to buy stuff at 10% off. We wandered around in the cold.

Inside Lily settled down to some colouring while we nibbled mince pies and hot chocolate. Thumbing through the catalogue so see what purchases to make later.

With minds made up we headed back in. New seals and parts for the T4 and a shiny new steering wheel and cup holder for the camper. I have to wait until the 25th for the wheel but the holder was fitted straight away. No more errant drinks in the van!

We noshed on free burgers before heading home. It was filling up nicely, the weather and the discount bringing people out for the day.

The camper got treated to a quick jetwash to get rid of the grime on the way home. The steering wheel will come later.

JK Open Day

For the last couple of years, Just Kampers, the VW parts supplier, have thrown open their doors to say thank you to their customers. I pop over there several times a year for bits and often pick something up from their stand at shows so its nice that they put on a bash like this. We headed down in the morning for a wander round.

As soon as we walked in we bumped into Alan out for the day as well so hitched up with him for a walk round and natter.

The back field was set out camping plots for those making a weekend of it and general parking for the day trippers. Along with the free BBQ there were several traders and JKs bargain sale shed. We didn't get anything this time, but plenty of people were weighed down with goodies. Leaving Kim and Alan to chat, Lily and I set off to explore.

Refreshed and ready for another walk, we set off round the carpark to see what else had turned up today.

I've seen lots of things painted down the side of various vans over the years, but seaside postcards are a first.

We caught up with Malcs and family. Lily and Molly had a run around together, good practise for our up coming camping trip at the end of the week.

We spotted this Foster & Day for Gren parked at the end and towering over everything else.

And then it was time to strap everyone in for the cruise home, the country lanes were lovely and quiet and with both my passengers fast asleep it was a nice ride back.

A sunny afternoon at Just Kampers

Having spent a warm morning packing house stuff up we decided to treat ourselves to a trip out to Just Kampers open day, with the temperature in the mid 20s and with time tight we opted for the air-con luxury of the Passat, blasting down the A30 to the Odiham based outlet. First up was a bite to eat from the BBQ

Joining Gren & Jan for a natter we bumped into Dal, Mim & Devon and finally the JTBs, all out for a spot of bargain hunting. Wandering past a few show campers we made for the sale section.

We had a rummage in the sale area and spent the grand total of 25p on a new gutter clamp for the awning! We then met up with the Alanbugs for a wander round the field.

A rather random Citroen pulled in shortly afterwards. A DS saloon that had been roof chopped and engine swapped to make a Maserati engined Decapotable.

After a final chat the T25/Passat club went its separate ways.
