Regent St motorshow

Its been a few years since I last got my fix of the London to Brighton Veteran car run. We've been to Brighton for the finish and to London for the start. As luck would have it, Kim and her mum had decided to go and see the Tower of London Poppies today, the same day that Regent St is turned over to the motorshow. After an early start and look at nearly 900000 ceramic flowers we headed over to Regent St. Leaving the others in Liberty I set off down the road. As well as the L2B cars there are sections for more modern machinery such as the 40th anniversary of the Porsche Turbo.

A selection of bikes were on display and performing runs on the World GP Bike Legends stand. A Goodwood revival for the biking world.

As the curve of Regent St headed down towards Piccadilly Circus, the veteran cars were lined up. Spanning the dawn of motoring from the late 1890s through to the early 1900s, it was a sea of brass lamps, rubber bulbed horns and fantastic bodywork.

At the end of the street the new cars took over once more as cars from Morgan, Renault and Tesla showed off the latest models including Infinit's new Q50 NGTC BTCC racer.

With time running out I headed back up to meet up with the others once more. Passing yet more Veteran cars including the Darracq from the 1953 film about the Great Emancipation Run, Genevieve.

With a break for lunch we decided to head for Waterloo and the train home. Down the road past the last few cars and on to the display for the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang.

I would love to be up in time to watch the start at Hyde Park tomorrow at just before 7am, but the weather is looking poor and I don't think I can subject Kim and Lily to a second day of automotive fun!

Steve.
