Adventures on the Isle of Wight - Day4

Breakfast time and Lily was tucking into jammy toast while we planned another day out. The nearby Butterfly World our destination.

As soon as we got in the hot and humid glasshouses, a tired Lily had decided she'd had enough (kids eh?!) So we skirted through while I swapped from fogged up SLR to mobile phone to get some vivid shots of the butterflies filling the air all around us.

Aiming for cooler climes we found the fountain world building next door, with Japanese inspired gardens and carp ponds.

Lily enjoyed the less muggy conditions and was running around back and forth on the bridges over the pond. One of the staff appeared for a talk on the carp and feeding time, with only us to listen he geared it towards an energetic toddler and soon had all three of us feeding the huge orange fish. Lily by throwing in, Kim and me by dipping a food filled hand under the water and having the Koi suck the meal with loud slurping noises.

Having fed the fish, we were getting hungry so headed South to Bembridge and the unusual Propellor Inn. The reviews promised good food and a military museum. Inside we were faced with model planes everywhere and cabinets of memorabilia. The food was fantastic, the staff amazing giving Lily her own cutlery and treating her like royalty. With little aircraft coming in to land next door it was a real experience and a place I'd recommend.

On the hill over looking the airfield was the islands only Windmill.

Taking the scenic route to a nearby petrol station the Campers electrics continued to bug me, the generator light coming on and the fuel gauge swinging wildly around when ever we indicated. I needed reassurance and some help. At the craft barns at Arreton, Kim and Lily wandered round while I investigated the van, fortunately the barns are also home to a classic car restorer and mechanic, so I had a natter and look round his stash of E-Type Jaguars and a couple of special Imps. His advice was to contact a mobile auto electrician who he'd used in the past.

Back at the Caravan, Lily played on the site in her PJs while I chatted to the electrician. He had an hour in the morning to investigate if I could be in Cowes by 9am (it was all of 10 miles away)
