Today was all about me! Running just to the East of the Caravans was the steam railway, I'd heard them pass earlier in the week and wanted more sooty action so we headed over with the intention of having a ride and
going on elsewhere. But the place had so much to do we ended up staying all day. Parking at Havenstreet station in the middle of the line we jumped on the first train towards Smallbrook.
With a whole third class seating section to ourselves we hung out the windows and had a drink while the world chugged by. From Smallbrook we came back through thr main station and onto the other end of the line at Wooton before returning to Havenstreet for lunch.
Suitably refreshed we made our way back in towards the new lottery funded Train Story sheds, vast halls able to store the whole rolling stock of the site. Lily got to dress as a driver and was chugging anything she could clamber on.
After an ice cream break we watched the local bird of prey group fly an owl, hawk and vulture on the event field.
Then it was into the playground and the bizarre woodland walk.
Before a final ride to Wotton again. A trip to the shop gathered some drinks once more and we trundled along through the dappled light of the tree covered line.
On the short drive back to the caravan, Lily and I hatched a plan to go and get eggs for the following days breakfast. On her little bike we headed down the lane to collect them, making sure not to scramble any on the bumpy ride back.
